More people than ever before are working remotely. But not everyone prefers the work from home environment. The result is a hybrid workplace, one that combines remote work and work in a traditional office space. The goal of the hybrid workplace is to support every work style and every employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages of remote working<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Change to commuting patterns, traffic and time spent to and from the office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focused individual work improved \u2013 less disruption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restore or enhance work life balance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased family time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee\u2019s sense of freedom \u2013 can control their work\/home schedule, improving job satisfaction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduces staff turnover<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attract talent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disadvantages of remote working<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communication &amp; Collaboration suffers - teams become siloed and communicate less, less face-to-face interaction and chance meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees spend more time on email, what\u2019s app and therefore less information is shared.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less collaboration and learning between new and younger employees (Generation Y &amp; Z) and Baby Boomers\u2013 it\u2019s a vital part of an office space \u2013 the ability for all to learn new skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Culture, creativity and innovation may suffer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees lose the social interaction of offices and may feel lonely, isolated, and out of touch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital overload Zoom\/Team meetings, webinars at all hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work remotely is an issue in South Africa \u2013 access to a decent internet connection, space, and place to work, disruption, cost of IT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficult to manage remote teams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The biggest issue in offices today is lack of privacy and acoustic issues - these need to be addressed, again to encourage staff to return to the office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Solution \u2013 The Hybrid Office<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opportunity is for companies to create a workplace (Hybrid Office) where everyone can thrive and importantly <strong>encourage<\/strong> employees to come back to the office a few days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A well designed and improved office space offering employees a <strong>choice<\/strong> of where to work within the office \u2013 desk, quiet zone, Private space, pause area, collaboration space or meeting room, in the garden or on the patio.
